Shingles, Whooping Cough, RSV & Other Vaccinations

We also offer whooping cough (pertussis), RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and shingles vaccinations (Shingrix).

UPDATE for Shingles vaccines -

1. From 1 Nov 2023, the shingles vaccine Shingrix will replace Zostavax on the National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule for the prevention of shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia

2. The 2 dose course of Shingrix will be free for the following:

- people aged 65 years and older

- First Nations people aged 50 years and older

- Immunocompromised people aged 18 years & older 

4. If you are aged 50 to 64 years old, nothing has changed. You are able to receive Shingrix at the private cost. Please ring 94974391 for the current cost

UPDATE for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccines -

From 3 Feb 2025, a vaccine for RSV will be available on the NIP for pregnant women between 28 - 36 weeks of gestation. Please note it will be be administered FREE of charge at Mount's Pharmacy if you are eligible.

From 15 May 2026, the RSV vaccine will be available on the NIP for adults aged 75 years and above and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged 60 years and above. Initially, there is a limit of how many we can order from the government. Please be patient and keep checking for available appointments.

There are no changes to the vaccine available for those aged 60 years to 74 years - it is available as usual at a private cost. Please ring 9497 4391 for the current cost
